A trip to Puerto Rico

Here's a collection of photos I shot while on a work trip to Puerto Rico in February of 2007. I was able to see many different parts of the island and even take a short couple hour jaunt into El Yunque. I didn't get to spend much time in Old San Juan, but enjoyed the few quick things I was able to see there. Soon, very soon I am going to take a vacation to Puerto Rico, when I can go see many more of the things I would like to experience, like the surfing and more hikes in El Yunque. P.S. Boyd, I know I forgot to capture the Pinchos! I guess that means I will have to go back down there and get some photos of that!

Trip over

2/18/07

The flight over was a bit of an ordeal, we didn't get out of Fort Myers on time, we were delayed about one and a half hours for repairs to the plane. So inturn we missed our connecting flight and had to run to the otherside of the terminal to catch the next flight to San Juan. This all on an empty stomache mind you! Once we made San Juan it was only to discover that our baggage didn't make it. So we waited for the next flight in from Miami, another hour and half wait, to find only one bag made it. So we finally went to get the rental car and head to the hotel. We managed to get dinner around 10 or so, it was so good! And some live music to top it off.

Day 2

2/19/07

After a restful night we awoke to find that our bags still hadn't arrived but should be delivered sometime that day to the hotel. Since we had to go to the other side of Puerto Rico that night we decided to go sightseeing until we knew our bags were in. So off to El Yunque National Forest and Luiquillo we headed. I really enjoyed El Yunque, but I needed more time to really experience it, so I will go back there soon.

Day 3

2/20/07

Finally we have our bags, and we are ready to go to work, Cabo Rojo NWR and Laguna Cartagena are on the schedule, along with working on the management plan for the Carribean refuges. Got Pinchos today, sorry Boyd! Good dinner on the water, and then some work talk around the pool.

Day 4

2/21/07

Drive to Fajardo, can't make a plane to Vieques today, re-organize and plan for the change. Lot's of driving, looks like there's been alot of fires in PR recently.

Fajardo Inn, great place, good rates, nice sunsets.

Day 5

2/22/07

Flight to Vieques, go look at the live impact zone, look at Wildland Urban Interface fire breaks. Fire near the runway on the return flight to Fajardo. Pinchos for dinner, way to go Boyd!
